THE SURPRISE

This is the sort of thing that makes it all worthwhile. The downs and disappointments that goes with racing pigeons, disappears. I just felt that I should share this with as many people as possible. If I sound over excited it is simply because we enjoy keeping pigeons…..maybe to much.

About three years ago Dr Jaap Nel wrote the article “Linkage” which was placed on the website yesterday. This morning, 1 Nov 2011, I read the article on the website to make sure it is clear and in order. A bombshell struck me when I read the following. Quote - “ Steven van Breemen knows that offspring of Goede Jaarling, his national champion and excellent breeder, races well if they have a white spot of feathers above the wattle, between the eyes. (Goede Jaarling (NL-82-448368) won the Chateauroux race (National) against 8,139 pigeons. Not only was Goede Jaarling a magnificent racer, but he also bred numerous winners against thousands of pigeons over nine generations.)”

After the success Fred Brough had with “Cliff”, a Houben/Van Breemen cross, I approached Jaap to lend me a Van Breemen cock which I knew he had, out of “Goede Jaarling”. We mated the cock with a Houben hen, and bred four babies.

This morning when I read the above quote, it struck me. We have one!!! Look at the pictures below and read the quote again.
